Paradise for your parrots, that’s what these bird room ideas are! For those of us who are owned by a beaky feathered boss they are a relief! Seriously! They’ll keep your birds happily occupied for hours at a time even when you don’t have time to be right in there with them.
If you switch the toys around once a week and add foraging toys each day it’ll be hard for your parrot to get bored and into mischief.
Warning… building a bird room (even one tucked into a nook in a “people room”) is extremely addictive! Once you start you’ll be constantly on the lookout new bird toys and things you can make bird toys out of!
Bird Room Ideas For Parrots
Here’s a bird room idea for a large parrot like an African Grey, Cockatoo or Macaw. Not that a smaller bird like a Conure wouldn’t enjoy the large ropes too. But it is obviously set up for BIG BEAKS!
I just love the way she has both horizontal and vertical climbing nets set up in here. For heavy ropes like these we’d build a pvc frame to hang them from.
That would protect your walls & ceiling and make the whole thing portable for if you move or want to take it outdoors. It also looks to me like these ropes might just be the aronico parrot climbing net. Or at least something very similar.
Seriously if you’ve ever wanted to build your own bird play gym, this is a room to look it.
The entire space has practically been turned into a play area for them. From stuff that has clearly been thrown together by the humans in this equation and some stuff that appears to be store bought.

Indoor Bird Rooms Keep Your Bird Busy
The best thing about this indoor bird room is how all the toys are presented at many different heights.
We’ve found that some birds like staying up high, some closer to the ground and some of our feathered friends like flitting between them all. You could even throw in some homemade parakeet toys. Or any kind of homemade parrot toy to add even more to this wonderful birdy play area.
And you can get large rope like this from your local hardware store to make your own inexpensive bird perches and bird room decor. Just be sure you anchor them to studs in your walls or you’ll damage your drywall.
Build A Bird Room In Your House
These folks have addressed one of the most annoying things about having a bird room in your house… the POOP on the floor! If your bird isn’t the type to enjoy a romp on the floor a simple tray system like this filled with litter that you can scoop clean as needed may be just the answer.
It would take the stress out of setting up a bird room for many folks.

DIY Bird Room Set Up
This is a super simple diy bird room setup! These folks have used their birds cages as the basis of an amazing and fun area for their birds. Each having a parrot play gym on the top, that helps transform this space.
Add some wall to wall rope perches with assorted boings and you’ve got hours of birdy entertainment! This is a great way to use your indoor bird cage and make it as useful as possible for you and your birds.
Naturally the cages are part of what make this really wonderful bird room possible!
Even though this is a bird room and the intent is to have your bird out with you as often as possible, we all know there is a time when your bird friends need to stay in their cage. Whether it’s just to sleep for the night or you have got to go somewhere for a little while!
That’s why we featured large and sturdy cages below. But if you’re wanting to keep looking we have an entire post on extra large bird cages and ideas for them over here!
If you’re wanting to mimic this room, or something like it at least, we also have a whole host of bird products over here for you to check out that can help you get started!

DIY Pet Bird Room Design
Ok, we think it’s really smart and fun how this person has turned a tall cat tree into a diy bird play ground! We would never have thought to do that but it’s really, really clever.
Your bird will have fun running up and down the posts and the platforms make a good spot to put bird play gyms.
Heck, you could even get a one of those realistic cat trees with leaves! Then your birdie can play peek-a-boo with you from the branches!
Plus, if you look at the rest of this room and how it’s set up, it could almost be used as a “how to build your own bird cage” guide. If you were looking to turn an entire room into your birds home!

Parrot Room Ideas
As parrot room ideas go this one has it all! If I was a pet bird parrot I’d want to live here. This place is better then any playground I remember from when I was a kid.
The thing that really catches my eye here is how well they’ve used the rooms ceiling space. Even a bird with severely clipped wings will be able to make their way from one side of the room to the other. And have all kinds of interesting things to do along the way!
Once again I’m pretty sure I also spot a aronico parrot climbing net or two in there, which is really a great rope net. I swear every review I’ve seen of the thing has been glowing.
Plus, look at all those cool parrot cages, yeah?
It might not seem like they are as cool as the rest of the room at first glance, but when you factor in that in a bird room like this those cages are basically going to be your parrots bedroom, they start looking pretty spiff.
