Front Pet Carriers For Small Dogs

Have you seen these front pet carriers for small dogs?  They are too cool and very handy for folks who own dogs 20 pounds and under who need a bit of assistance getting around.

Shown above is the Kyjen Outward Hound Front Carrier.  It comes in two sizes.  The small is for dogs up to 10 pounds.  And the Medium is for dogs between 10 and 20 pounds.  It is made of soft yet durable nylon and has reflective piping to keep you and your pup safe.

We have found the "Outward Hound" carriers to be very sturdy.  In fact they are as sturdy as many of the more expensive brands on the market.  This makes them a very smart buy in our book.

Now, this particular pack keeps your dogs legs tucked inside the carrier so they won't get cold if you go hiking in the winter.

This is also useful if you are using this dog carrier for taking your pet cycling with you or for a ride on your bicycle or motorcycle.  Tucked in legs are safe legs.

Now if your doggy has arthritis you may want to get him or her a "Legs Out Front Pet Carrier".  These are more like the baby carriers you so often see new parents using to carry their new bundles of joy around in.

As the name suggests, this type of front dog carrier keeps your pets legs free from the pack.  The upside is they are more comfy for old arthritic legs.  The downside is they are exposed to the elements.  We'll talk about them in more detail at a later date.

Ok, now back to the spiffy Kyjen Outward Hound Front Carrier and some features we like about it...

  • It has mesh sides to keep your pet cool.
  • The clip to secure your pet to the carrier.
  • Drawstring top closure. No guessing how big it needs to be.
  • The flat stiff bottom for secure seating.
Did we mention it's stylish?  Just take a look at Carmen and Holly!

"I bought this to carry my 4 pound chihuahua, Holly, and it works perfect. No complaints. Very comfortable being worn both front and backwards."

Folks are even using pet carriers like this to take their dogs with them on ATV rides, Canoeing and on snowmobile adventures!

Because of the mesh sides if you are taking your dog out in the cold for long we recommend lining the carrier with a towel or small blanket to keep your dog warm.  Use common sense folks.  If you're cold your dog probably is too :)

So bottom line, if mobility is a challenge for your dog because of age, illness or lack of ability to sit on a motorcycle properly, a front pet carrier for small dogs will make it possible for your beloved pet to accompany you on your adventures.
